A 2-minute, 23-second extended version of "Matthew's Day Off" (chicagotribune.com/bueller) was released online Monday, with the 49-year-old Matthew Broderick in a sendup of the role he made famous 26 years ago. The commercial opens with a seemingly under-the-weather Broderick awakening in his luxurious Hollywood digs, on the phone and successfully begging off work — "One of the worst performances of my career, and he never doubted it for a second," Broderick triumphantly proclaims while readying for his big day.

Then he's off to his CR-V, which the valet has waiting ("Broderick … Broderick …")

The rest of the spot is Broderick driving oceanside, visiting Santa Monica Pier, singing in a parade — a day well spent, for sure, but clearly not in Chicago, where the legendary 1986 John Hughes film was set.

"There certainly was some thought to (filming in) Chicago," Honda brand manager Tom Peyton said of the spot, shot in early December. "It was primarily just a matter of timing and such that had it in L.A."

The full-length commercial includes more than two dozen "Easter eggs," Peyton said, hidden references to the movie — such as a store-window mannequin wearing Bueller's signature vest — that Honda hopes fans will spot, tweet and share on other social media.

Shot by photographer Nick Saglimbeni (who also took the famous family’s Christmas portrait), the reality show siblings model three different styles named after themselves: The Kourtney Jean, The Kim Jean and The Khloé Jean.

“Denim is essential to every wardrobe,” Kim, 31, says in the company’s press release. “I wear jeans all the time — they are so easy to throw on with a white tee or dress up with heels and a blazer and fab accessories. A great pair of jeans can take you from day to night, but that perfect pair is tough to find.”

The jeans will sell for $46.99 to start.

The spotlight-loving trio said they designed the collection with curvy women in mind.

“My sisters and I have different body figures and I know how hard it is to find denim that is not only affordable but that also flatters and celebrates our individual shapes.
